In Porto, these initiatives are becoming more and more popular.

1. Porto Christmas Lights
Before setting off for the Christmas markets, it is important not to forget that at this time the city is also lit up with Christmas lights!
In the city of Porto, the Christmas lighting enhances even more the beauty of Avenida dos Aliados. This year the Christmas lights will be on from the 1st of December until the 7th of January.
2. Porto Christmas Market
Praça da Batalha, one of the best known of Porto, will receive amid lights, music, decorated trees and wooden houses several proposals of national articles. From dolls, toys, jewellery, gloves, hats and scarves, regional sweets, honey, jams, cheeses, sausages, canned goods and dried fruit.

Schedule: Every day – Sunday to Thursday from 10am to 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am to 10pm

3. Matosinhos Christmas Market
At this Christmas market, about 87 craftsmen are present with cheese, sausages, chocolates, design products, books, fashion and jewellery.
Dates: 25 November to 23 December
Schedule: Every day – Sunday to Thursday from 11.00h to 19.30h and Fridays, Saturdays and eve of public holidays from 12.00h to 23.00h
Location: Basílio Teles Park, in front of Matosinhos Town Hall
4. Christmas Markets at World of Wine
At the World of Wine (WOW), in Vila Nova de Gaia, besides visiting the museums, you can take the opportunity to buy some gifts at the Christmas markets with products from Portuguese artisans and brands. On November 26, at 6.30pm, the lights and the big Christmas tree will be lit to the sound of the gospel group Wallow Choir.

Schedule: Every day – Monday to Saturday from 11.00h to 01.00h and Sunday from 10.00h to 01.00h

5. Christmas Square
The Christmas square is back in Vila Nova de Gaia. Ideal to spend time with the family and to eat a lot of lambarices. For the little ones to go crazy, there is Father Christmas’ House, the French carousel, the ice rink, giant wheel, Christmas train, little houses with gastronomy and a market with handmade products, local products, books, Christmas sweets, jewellery and toys.
Dates: 8 December to 31 December
Schedule: Monday to Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday from 4 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Except on 24/12 from 10.00h to 16.00h and 25/12 from 16.00h to 20.00h
